Better manure management starts with a reliable manure test. AgSource offers a variety of manure analysis packages for increased flexibility and the confidence you need to maximize your resources.  


Who Should Test:
Anyone interested in improving production efficiency and reducing potential pollution to the environment.

When to Test: It is best to plan ahead. The material should be agitated in the lagoon or pit prior to pulling the sample. Manure tends to "layer" in storage facilities. Laboratory analysis generally takes 7 days.

Submitting a Manure Sample
  1. Use the 1 pint plastic container provided by AgSource Laboratories for your samples.
    Fill the container only 3/4 full.
    Unapproved containers will not be accepted - no glass or beverage containers.
  2. Make sure container lid is secure and affixed properly.
  3. Clean any sample from the outside of the container.
  4. Clearly label all containers and fill out submittal forms completely.
  5. Place the sample container in the plastic bag provided. Make sure the plastic bag is sealed correctly.
  6. Do not put the submittal form inside the plastic bag in case of leakage.
  7. Prior to shipping make sure sample is secure and well packed in shipping container.
  8. Ship to:     AgSource Laboratories

    If shipping cannot occur the same day it is recommended that samples be refrigerated or frozen until they can be shipped. Do not let manure samples sit in hot areas for any period of time.
