Lactation Avg. Linear Score
This number is the cow's average linear score for her current lactation, and will appear until the cow begins her next lactation. The lactation average linear score represents the cow's overall udder health during the course of her lactation to date.
Previous 12 Tests
Although the combination of somatic cell count and milk production can give us some insight into milk quality, our best tool for managing udder health is linear score. Linear score is calculated from somatic cell count, and expresses cell counts on a scale of 0-10. Linear scores are provided for each test completed within the last 13 months. A linear score / somatic cell count conversion table is provided at the top of this report. Cows with a Linear Score > 4 are highlighted in red.
Tests > 4.0
This section provides important information about a cow's udder health on her current test day, during her lactation, and for her previous lactation. Each cow's linear score history is interpreted and can be a powerful tool when considering different management alternatives (selling, segregating or treating) regarding individual cows.
The number in the upper left corner is the number of tests that were greater than or equal to 4.0 linear score. The letter in the bottom right corner indicates: N = New high linear score, P = Probable infection and R = indicates a Recurrent high linear score.
