GIS Mapping/GPS Soil Sampling

We use the most up-to-date and universally compatible software to meet your field mapping needs. When your farms and fields are GPS sampled by AgSource, we can create detailed, geo-referenced maps that can be adapted to meet your needs. We can sample fields by grid, soil type, or management zones.

Based on given grid frequency, typically 2.5, 3.3 or 5 acre grids.  Soil cores are pulled near the center of the grid and the location is recorded using DGPS technology. The smaller the grid size, the more accurately you will be able to measure the variability of the nutrients within the given field. The soil analysis characterizes the current fertility and pH level of the soil. This is often a reflection more of past management and nutrient applications than the natural characteristics of those soils.

In addition to the basic map package that includes your field boundary and sample points, we can provide colored nutrient maps that incorporate all your soil test results with the field boundary. Maps are provided in a pdf format and can be exported in a variety of formats.

Quality soil sampling is a must to ensure accurate and meaningful results. AgSource Soil & Forage Laboratory's highly qualified and experienced staff will ensure your fields are professionally sampled with uniform procedures designed to meet your needs.
