AgSource is a broad-based agricultural service cooperative specializing in laboratory testing and the generation of value-added management information from test results. AgSource began as dairy records cooperative in 1959 to provide computer management information from DHI testing. The cooperative has since grown to encompass all phases of DHI service and has diversified its testing services to meet the broader needs of the agricultural industry. AgSource now offers full service DHI, milk and food testing, water and waste water, agronomic, feed and forage analysis, and other related services made available through AgSource Laboratories. DHI patrons still maintain member ownership, and lead the cooperative's board of directors.
Member delegates vote at the cooperative's annual meeting to elect the board of directors. The board consists of five district directors and four at-large directors. The board may also appoint one ex officio member. The 2016 board currently consists of the following AgSource members:
