WALWORTH COUNTY MISS "Q" WINNERS RECOGNIZED
ELKHORN, Wis. - The 2009 Walworth County Fair Miss "Q" Contest showcased youth for quality milk production. The contest awards are presented to individuals in four lactation classes. The animal in each class with the lowest lactation average linear score, indicating the highest quality milk, is declared the winner. The winning entries received the opportunity to sell one gallon of milk at the AgSource Miss Q Auction held during the fair. Proceeds from the auction are awarded to the winning youth exhibitors for them to further develop their dairy project or finance their post secondary education.
The first lactation quality milk pitcher was awarded to Adrianna Vanderstappen. The pitcher was purchased by Stateline Vet Service & York Farms of Lake Geneva for $800.00. Emily Watson was the winner of the second lactation quality milk pitcher. Sugar Creek Dairy Farms (Rick Adams), Klug Custom Baling Service, Homestead Hoof Care, AI Supply, and Accelerated Genetics purchased the pitcher for $400.00. Winning the third lactation quality milk pitcher was Tyler Meyer and was purchased by Lyle & Chris Eichman for $525.00. The fourth lactation and greater quality milk pitcher was won by Steven Fincutter and was purchased by Sugar Creek Mutual Insurance (Don Schmaling & George Lauderdale) for $950.00.
