Genex Recognizes Dairy Producers for Excellent Herd Reproduction

SHAWANO, Wis. — Each year, Genex Cooperative, Inc. presents the Excellence in Reproduction Award to members and customers who achieve top-notch herd reproduction results.

"The Excellence in Reproduction Award gives the cooperative the opportunity to congratulate dairy producers across the U.S. for reproductive success within their herds," states Kristi Fiedler, Genex Associate Vice President of U.S. Technical Services. "Demonstrating their reproductive proficiency, this year's winning herds averaged a 33% pregnancy rate and a 50.5% first service conception rate. These dairies are among the industry's elite."

The award winners in each of the four categories are:

Dairies with less than 500 cows
Platinum: Mapledale Farm, Berlin, New York
Gold: Kliebenstein Farms, Darlington, Wisconsin
Silver: Breitenmoser Family Farms, Merrill, Wisconsin
Honorable Mention: Truttmann Dairy LLC, Blanchardville, Wisconsin

Dairies with 500-2,000 cows
Platinum: Schilling Farms, Darlington, Wisconsin
Gold: Springwater Farms, Canastota, New York
Silver: Demko Farms, Inc., Lowville, New York
Honorable Mention: Leix Farms Inc., Monfort, Wisconsin
Honorable Mention: Maple Ridge Dairy Business, Stratford, Wisconsin

Dairies with more than 2,000 cows
Platinum: Galeton Dairy, Galeton, Colorado
Gold: Darlington Ridge Farms, Darlington, Wisconsin
Silver: Pagel's Ponderosa Dairy LLC, Kewaunee, Wisconsin
Honorable Mention: Verhasselt Farms LTD, Kaukauna, Wisconsin

Heifers
Platinum: Lawnhurst Farms LLC, Stanley, New York
Gold: Heeg Brothers Dairy LLC, Colby, Wisconsin
Silver: Gardeau Crest Dairy, Perry, New York
Honorable Mention: Rocking S Dairy, Modesto, California

The winners were determined through a matrix calculation factoring the dairy's pregnancy rate, service rate, conception rate, percent pregnant by 150 days in milk (DIM), sexed semen use and genetic level of service sires.
